PORT SOLUTIONS / SURVEY · INSPECTION · INTEGRATION

Better underwater information for your port.

For port maintenance, engineering and operations teams. Start with one berth, quay section or underwater question, then define the evidence and equipment needed to answer it.

THE CUSTOMER DECISION COMES FIRST

What do you need to decide?

Where to survey again. Which asset needs a closer inspection. Whether a sonar target needs recovery. We help turn these questions into a practical scope, with a named delivery team and useful outputs.

01 / PORT APPLICATION

Berth & seabed condition

Has the seabed changed where you operate?

Colour-shaded bathymetric surface showing variations in seabed depth
Survey output example · Marine Thinking

Review depths, sediment accumulation or suspected scour beside quay walls and within a defined berth or approach area.

Possible system
A survey vessel with an appropriate bathymetric sonar and positioning system; side-scan imaging where the task calls for it.
Agreed deliverable
A reviewed depth dataset, seabed map or comparison with an agreed baseline, with coverage and uncertainty documented.
Decision supported
Support survey planning, maintenance prioritisation or a further dredging assessment.

Agree the survey specification, datum and accuracy with the port’s survey team.

02 / PORT APPLICATION

Quay & underwater asset inspection

What can you learn when the water is unclear?

Front view of a Blue Robotics BlueROV2 underwater remotely operated vehicle
Inspection platform example · Blue Robotics

Investigate quay faces, piles, moorings, intakes or other submerged assets where access or visibility makes inspection difficult.

Possible system
An ROV with camera and imaging sonar, or a suitable vessel-mounted sonar arrangement. Namin is one candidate sensor family to assess.
Agreed deliverable
Recorded acoustic images, visual evidence where visibility permits, an asset or target log and identified areas needing specialist review.
Decision supported
Help the maintenance team plan a closer inspection and provide evidence for engineering review.

Structural conclusions remain with the appointed engineer; imaging alone does not establish integrity.

03 / PORT APPLICATION

Obstruction & target checks

What is the object, and where is it?

Side-scan sonar display showing seabed returns and acoustic shadows
Sonar display example · Marine Thinking

Follow up a reported submerged object, a survey anomaly or a suspected obstruction within a clearly defined search area.

Possible system
Choose a search sonar for the area, then use an ROV and imaging sonar to investigate selected targets with suitable positioning.
Agreed deliverable
A target list with positions and confidence, recorded observations and a recommendation for further verification or specialist recovery.
Decision supported
Help the port decide which targets need attention and what work to commission next.

Search coverage and detection limits are agreed in advance; a scan does not certify an area clear.

CANDIDATE TECHNOLOGY / NAMIN

Acoustic imaging for low-visibility work.

The Namin brochure presents C750D and C750D Pro imaging sonars for underwater observation and platform integration. They are candidates for investigating port structures and selected targets when optical visibility is limited.

These are imaging sensors. A depth-survey specification needs its own bathymetric measurement system and quality checks.

A FOCUSED FIRST PROJECT

Start with one berth
or quay section.

A proposed pilot can combine a surface survey and close-up investigation of selected findings. Each system is deployed separately, with the operating team and scope agreed in advance.

01 / DEFINE

Choose the question

Identify the asset, existing information, customer decision, port contact and available operating window.

02 / COLLECT

Plan the field work

Specify coverage and positioning, select the vessel and sensors, and agree which findings need ROV inspection.

03 / REVIEW

Make the result usable

Deliver the agreed data and evidence, review limitations, and decide whether the method justifies further work.

Agree success before mobilisation

Covered area, position and depth requirements, required asset or target evidence, usable data formats, reporting, port access, budget and responsibilities.

INTEGRATION & OPERATOR SUPPORT

Connect the system to the task

Marine RoboTech brings together automation, embedded systems and marine integration. Remote operation and Marine Awareness can be assessed where the port use case requires them.
